Event Details

Join me for my first Gravitational Fitness Class series!  We will meet Tuesdays 2/13-3/6 from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm.  Sign up at www.be-well-austin.com.

What is GravityFit?

First, we will learn how to develop gravitational fitness.  Gravitational fitness, the ability of your body to hold itself up against gravity, involves strengthening deep postural muscles.  These muscles do not activate or turn on the same way other muscles do: they require different input, including compression, emotions, and feeling the body.

What does the class include?

Next, students will receive a GravityFit Cap that will allow them to practice the techniques at home.  Also, they will learn how and why these exercises work, as well as the research on astronauts that lead to this discovery.  Finally, they will learn how to advance practice as they get stronger gravitational muscles.

How was this developed?

Carolyn Richardson, a physiotherapist in Australia and the leading researcher in postural muscles, developed this equipment and protocol.  It requires a trained professional to administer correctly.  Additionally, the class is limited to six people to ensure the instructor can provide personal assistance as needed.

Students who complete this program may notice

  • decreased back/neck/shoulder/TMJ pain,
  • increased energy
  • feeling taller
  • feeling lighter while walking

This class is preventative and not designed as treatment for orthopedic problems.  Therefore, if you have substantial current pain, you will need a physical therapy referral and formal evaluation to participate in class.  However, if you have a history of pain, you may take the class to prevent future injuries or recurrence.
